2010 - Day 118

Yummy! The April dessert of the month was an orange cheesecake with raspberry drizzle. I used my birthday gift card from Grandma to finally purchase a spring form pan. This recipe was brilliant and used orange juice to substitute for a little of the sugar. This made the cake a little less dense and it was another huge success at work.

2010 - Day 117

Akeli has started a new job where she is working 1st shift once again. So we meet in the West Village for happy hour and dinner. I picked a place called Corner Bistro on Jane Street. It was pretty fantastic, they only sold burgers, grilled cheese and french fries. We enjoyed ourselves and there was a huge line on our way out.

2010 - Day 116

The casket from today's funeral was brought in a horse drawn carriage. This was something worth taking a picture of, so here you go.

2010 - Day 115

I love this picture. After having a productive morning. I almost made an espresso machine work. Kumi made a wonderful brunch. Amanda graded a ton of papers. We all headed down to the local reservoir for a walk. It was a beautiful spring day. Here is Kumi and Amanda in their "romantic shot."

2010 - Day 114
Amanda and I headed to Boston on Saturday for a total trip of about 28 hours. Kumi was house sitting and we went to visit her and keep her company. You would think making a 24 hour visit would be rushed. However, I think all three of us thought it was more relaxing to go for a shorter time. We totally regressed to childhood and played board games, did puzzles and jumped on the trampoline. It was amazing. Here is my completed puzzle. I got a little help from the girls after I finished the edges!

2010 - Day 113

To celebrate the start of the Tribeca Film Festival, Jen and I headed down to the world financial center for a "drive in" movie. We saw the movie, Big, with Tom Hanks. It had been awhile since either of us had seen it, and it was interesting to see it from a different point of view. The setting was pretty gorgeous as well.

2010 - Day 112

Today was Earth Day! So in celebration I went down to Murry Hill to have margaritas with Katie. I walked home to enjoy the nice spring weather and thought that the Empire State building looked cool all dressed up for Earth Day.

2010 - Day 111
Today was the longest day EVER and not in a good way. Although how often is your favorite day described as long anyway.
However, there was a Boomers event at work that I stayed late to work the beginning, and I really like all of those women a lot. I also bought a bottle of champagne on my way home which Amanda, Jay and I shared over Chinese food in lieu of the Monday dinner makeup I was too tired to make.

2010 - Day 110

Tonight was amazing! I went to a cigar bar for a beer and then went to see a free show. It was Love, Loss and What I Wore. Melissa Joan Hart was in it. I always think it is interesting to see TV personalities in shows, because you sometimes forget that the are actors by profession. Anyway, the show was five women telling stories about their lives and the clothes they wore during those times. It was interesting and I enjoyed it.

2010 - Day 109
After our cable went out on Saturday, our TV was no longer that exciting. Especially since I somehow had connected pretty much everything attached to it to our wifi network. Oh well, we did postpone Monday night dinner though. What is the point if we can't watch 24! I went to bed at 7:30 PM, and was wide awake at 12:30 AM. Yikes.

2010 - Day 108

This is another ad, guess my posts for this weekend are pretty lame! Anyway, it reminded me of this picture I took in Ireland of the Guinness lake that everyone else thought looked nothing like a Guinness. This is a picture of the skyline that has been blacked out a little to look like a Guinness. It looked cooler in person than it does in this iPhone photo!

April 17, 2010

2010 - Day 107

Jen and I were going to try something new for dinner tonight. We ended up trying a new franchise of something old. We went to the Sunburnt Cow's new location aptly named the Sunburnt Calf. I probably could have taken a better picture, but instead here is one of their advertisements which I thought was cute.

2010 - Day 106

It was a really gorgeous morning. I had a coffee with my roomie and went for a jog before work. I wish I took the time to do that every morning. This isn't really a picture of anything, but I thought it was beautiful.

April 15, 2010

2010 - Day 105

Tax day! It didn't mean much to me today, I've already gotten over the money that I owed two weeks ago. Oh well, fingers crossed I have withheld correctly for 2010!

Anyway, one of my favorite parts of Spring is when the tulips come up in the medians on Park Avenue. It looks like it will still be a couple of days for that, but they are all over on the side streets, and really beautiful.

April 14, 2010

2010 - Day 104

There were too many pictures to choose from on Monday, because I had just gotten back from vacation. However, Amanda made such a beautiful dinner on Monday, I thought that it should still go up here. She made a delicious cream of asparagus sauce that we had over a breaded chicken breast with asparagus and rice.

April 13, 2010

2010 - Day 103

I thought that this neon sign was kinda incredible because on one side the "Star" was missing and on the other side the "Bucks" was missing. What are the chances that would happen? I may have had a glass of wine while watching Glee, but I still think that it is cool this morning!

April 12, 2010

2010 - Day 102

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Here I am with my slightly burnt skin, soaking up a little bit more vitamin D. Luckily I had a direct flight from St. Thomas to New York and even arrived at JFK an hour ahead of schedule. You can't beat that!

April 11, 2010

2010 - Day 101

On Sunday, we got a chance to climb aboard the Intrepid. Here is Robin steering it, as Jeet tested his sea legs and tried to catch the anchor in the marina. (I just took pictures, and grabbed another round of drinks for everyone.)

April 10, 2010

2010 - Day 100

Here is Jeet and I at Monkey No Climb, one of the houses, way up on the hillside that Robin and Dave manage. It was a gorgeous house with an even better view!! We then headed to Skinny Legs for burgers and music.

April 9, 2010

2010 - Day 99

Paradise is really the only word which describes it, being on this amazing tropical island. It is incredible how clear and warm the water stays. I thoroughly enjoyed my two days spent on the beach.

April 8, 2010

2010 - Day 98

Wow!! I took a long weekend vacation down to the Virgin Islands to visit my aunt. This is the view from Battery Hill which was the villa that we stayed at, conveniently located next to Cruz Bay. It had an excellent view from the deck, where I spent quite a bit of time, talking, reading and drinking rum.

April 7, 2010

2010 - Day 97

Another book club. This time we read Mathilda Savitch which was an interesting coming of age novel by a debut novelist. Here is a picture of me with our fearless leader Colin after book club had finished.

April 6, 2010

2010 - Day 96

I have an extremely hard time breaking a written rule. This is preciously the reason that I could not take a picture of the sunglasses that Jeet had to choose from at St. Mark's. Honestly, one hand written sign requesting that you not take pictures and it was all over. Clearly you are not able to pick anything out from the picture that I did take!

April 5, 2010

2010 - Day 95

Easter Monday was a glorious day in the city. It was about 70 degrees today and it was a great day for playing cards in the park and eating lunch outside. Here we are at one of my favorites, Cilantro with is a Mexican place, super cheap for lunch too!

April 4, 2010

2010 - Day 94

We went down to Brooklyn to go to my Church for Easter Sunday. It was a nice service and it was great introducing my parents to some of the wonderful people that I've meet there. Before the service there was an Easter breakfast and egg hunt. Here is grandpa finding an egg in a tree. Careful, that is a real egg and there is a limit of five eggs.

April 3, 2010

2010 - Day 93

We decided to take the Circle Line Tour around the city. It was something that I had never done before and it doesn't require a lot of walking!! We went on the three hour tour which hit all the highlights and the top of the island. To be honest I had no clue what it looked like at the top of Manhattan and I really enjoyed seeing it first hand.

April 2, 2010

2010 - Day 92

Grandpa and Grandma made their way to New York with my mom and dad for Easter. They meet up with me at work. I gave them the tour of our building and then took them to a diner for lunch. Here we are crossing Park Avenue before they headed to Central Park to enjoy the sunshine.

2010 - Day 91

Here it is the first day of April and I hadn't posted the March desert of the month yet. It was Irish Cream brownies with Irish Cream frosting. Once again a success and a big hit at work were the desert of the month calendar has become quite popular.
