Day 31- January 31, 2008
Decisions, decisions tonight on TV the choice is Lost or the Democratic Debate, and not just any debate, but the first one that is only Obama and Clinton. So clearly, I'm watching both programs.
I was planning on this Thursday's picture of the day, to be the cover of New York magazine with Clinton and Obama that is literally on every newsstand this week, but since I couldn't find that and didn't use my camera to take a picture of it, today's picture is actually Jack locked in a cage from last season of Lost. If you don't watch the show you should start from the beginning and enjoy it. Also you should watch Alias which is another amazing JJ Abrams show!

Day 30 - January 30, 2008
I went over to Samantha's for "poker night" but instead we ended up just watching tv and eating freshly crushed peanut butter from Whole Foods.
I love Samantha's house, because it is so much more like a real apartment than mine. When you live in New York space is really hard to come by and so you always have to appreciate it when you can!

Day 29 - January 29, 2008
Well I'm not going to lie, today was not the best ever. It was just a struggle all day starting with getting out of bed, I know everyone knows what I'm talking about. So I couldn't think for sure of what my picture for today was going to be. Then I passed the Brooklyn Library on my way home, the way that I do every day, and thought that it would be a great picture. I have actually started using the library very recently for the first time since living here. I've been averaging about a book a week on my commute to and from Manhattan. So it was about time to utilize the library, and it makes for a very nice snap shot as well.

Day 28 - January 28, 2008
Well, I look extremely cheesy in this picture, but it will have to do. I went to Johnny Utah's to meet up with some people from my temping job. This is a picture of me, Mike and another of Mike's old assistants, whose name I can't remember, but she was a really nice person. We met to celebrate Mike and George's birthdays, so it was really nice to catch up with everyone and I had a lot of fun. Oh on a different note, Mike is going to the Super Bowl this weekend. Go Giants!

Day 27 - January 27, 2008
Okay, well this is kinda cheating because it from the same event as yesterday's post, but to be fair the party did last both Saturday night and Sunday morning. So Angela got a sling shot as a birthday gift. That is a pretty amazing gift huh? You really don't remember how much fun things like a plastic sling shot can be until you give it a try. Unfortunately, I did hit Katie in the head with the foam ball when she was talking about how she is a pacifist and enjoys starting positive rap battles, oops!

Day 26 - January 26, 2008
It is a picture of all my ENYFA girls at Angela's apartment for her birthday party. Angela and Mark sure know how to throw a nice party. A good time was had by all. Also, we started the party by watching Obama give his speech in South Carolina. That is pretty incredible that he doubled Clinton's percentage there. We were all pretty excited, and he is an amazing speaker.

Day 24 - January 24, 2008
Today's picture of the day is a book recommendation. I am not one to usually love fantasy books, but my sister gave me Eragon by Christopher Paolini for Christmas so I had to at least give it a shot. I'm not going to lie it took me about 50 pages to get into it at all, but then I couldn't put it down. Reading fantasy in my opinion is much much more enjoyable than watching a movie about (for example Lord of the Rings!)

Day 23 - January 23, 2008
I know right, a bottle of wine was worth taking a picture of today, but don't worry there is a cute story behind it. In fact, I think that wine stores may be my new favorite place to hang out. I've had some good experiences in wine shops lately. My friends Angela and Kumi both have wine stores in their neighborhoods where their wine guys love them. It makes sense too, a wine store isn't exactly a place you browse without purchasing something, so it only makes sense that the people who work in them would be helpful. So today at a liquor store by my house I went in thinking that I wanted a Pinot Noir. So the guy watched me look around for a minute, then he asked if I was looking for a good red, to which I replied, actually I was thinking a Pinot Noir. So he suggested this Trapiche which is from Argentina, and then he said that he guaranteed that I would love it and be back to try the other wines from this region. I think he might be right!

Day 21 - January 21, 2008
Ok, I know that the Packers lost and aren't playing again until next season, but still no one is going to convince me that this isn't priceless!! I mean come on a dog in a cheese head. Funny! Usually I'm not one to think dogs are this cute, but when you mix football into it, I guess I'll jump on the bandwagon. It also reminds me of a story my friend, Elle, told me about when their dog Aries escaped or ran away at the time they were living in a tiny apartment and it was more of an escape. They had to go to claim him at the pound and the only pictures they had for identification were of the dog dressed up.

Day 19 - January 19, 2008
Jeet's friend Matt was in town this weekend. So I went out with Matt, Jeet and Rohin. When I meet up with them in Greenwich Village they were at a bar where Josh Hartnett was randomly. However, because I am incapable of not walking in circles in the Village, I missed him. Oh well, it was still a really fun night.

Day 17 - January 17, 2008
Well great picture, huh? I spent all day at work with nothing interesting to take pictures of. Then it was sleeting and horrible on my way home, so there was no need to take pictures of that. So instead I had a movie night, and I choose to watch American Psycho which was a netflix movie I had gotten. Christian Bale is really amazing, and even though he was creepy in this movie I still kinda loved him. So he is a serial killer in the movie and he is also insanely self-absorbed. This picture is part of his morning ritual that includes wearing a ice pack mask so that his face isn't puffy.

Day 16 - January 16, 2008
This is not a good picture, I apologize. However, this is a cool thing to have a picture of, so I will try to take another one in the daylight so that you can actually see it. Anyway, it is the 72nd street subway entrance and it is picture worthy because in my opinion it is by far the most/only photogenic subway stop.
January 15, 2008
January 14, 2008
Day 14 - January 14, 2008
This is the Brooklyn Museum, which is right across the street from my house. I think that it is such an amazing building and I really love it. It was also snowing a little bit at the time of this picture, but that doesn't exactly show up in this picture. Oh well, still pretty.

Day 13 - January 13, 2008
Although technically I cannot take credit for this photo, it is still the one that I am choosing to represent today. I saw the movie Charlie Wilson's War today and I really loved it. Rarely do movies have the opportunity to tell a story that is as complex and wonderful as this one. You have to know a lot about the way US government works and have a basic knowledge of the Cold War to get a lot of the jokes in this movie, but if you have that it is really enjoyable. I really admire Tom Hanks and his choice of movies, because reflecting on it right now I think that his movies have made lasting impressions on me more than any other actor. From Philadelphia to Saving Private Ryan to Forrest Gump. There is just something incredible there and this movie is no exception.

Day 12 - January 12, 2008
Well the big news today is that the Packers won their first playoff game and by 42-20 when they were down by two touchdowns in the first 4 minutes. Tonight, I went to watch Landon also, so I thought I would take a picture of him for my picture of the day. He is obsessed with legos, so I took his picture with his lego collection
January 11, 2008
Day 11 - January 11, 2008
So this is kinda funny, because I actually had a really busy day and didn't seem to take any good pictures from it. I had a really full day at work. Then I meet up with some friends for happy hour at Soda, which is this great bar not far from my place. Angela, Katie and Liz who I worked with last year were there. Also there were a bunch of TFA people that I knew there as well. Then Jen came over and we watched the first disc of the new season of Big Love, which is what this picture is of! Lame I know, but I tried!
January 10, 2008
Day 10, January 10, 2008
Well today I had my second day at a new job and then I met up with a friend from last year's job, Angela Schneider-Hogan. We had a great time catching up and it was amazing to see her Brooklyn apartment. I mean, sweet potato fries, red wine and cupcakes, what more can you ask for? We ate at this delicious place called Picked Fences in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Day 8 - January 8, 2008
Well, today I went to meet Kumi for lunch on the Upper East Side at this great Thai place. Then we went for a walk through Central Park. This is a random statue which is right next to the Met. It was pretty adorable how this little kid was climbing around like he was a bear. I have to say a sixty degree in January is certainly something to be enjoyed and it was cute to see him making the most of it.
January 7, 2008
Day 7 - January 7, 2008
This is a picture of a coffee shop a few blocks from my apartment called Prospect Perk. The name always reminds me of the cafe Central Perk that they always go to in Friends.
I spent an hour reading The Glass Castle there today. It is a really good book and I am really getting into it.
January 6, 2008
Day 6 - January 6, 2008
Today was Epiphany so I thought that I would post a picture of my Christmas decorations before I take them down. My nativity is actually the Precious Moments nativity and I received the pieces individually growing up.
Also this weekend was wild card weekend in the NFL, which if you know anything about me you know I am obsessed with. This years wild card winners were the Seahawks, Jaguars, Giants and Chargers. I was going to take a picture of the giant blow-up Giant outside the bar on the way home today, but it looks like I'll have one more chance this season.

Day 5 - January 5, 2008
This picture really captures a lot of things that I really love about spending Saturdays in Brooklyn! Jen is my only friend from High School who lives in New York and she only lives about 15 minutes away, so we always go for walks in Prospect Park together. Jorge is her boyfriend, who is also amazing and it is always fun when he joins us. In the background you can see the arch at Grand Army Plaza, which Jorge always says makes him feel like we live in Europe. Also if you look really hard you can see the tents for the farmer's market which occurs every Saturday right across the street from my apartment.

Day 4 - January 4, 2008.
So this one is kinda an inside joke. The very first day of Teach For America training, they were going around interviewing people and videotaping it. Then they edited it all together and did a Meet the Corps segment. Well, Kumi appeared on this video answering the question: what is unique about you? by saying, "I really like pandas!" It was pretty hilarious.
She does in fact love pandas however, which is evident from the panda hat that she bought at the Union Square Christmas market, and her portrait with the new panda, played by Jack Black in Kung Fu Panda. Just for the record the movie we saw tonight was Atonement, which I have mixed feeling about, but would give a good rating overall.
January 3, 2008
Day 3 - January 3, 2008
Well, back in New York and back to the real world! I meet up with my friend Kumi for dinner tonight in the East Village. Let me tell you after spending the last couple of weeks in the South, I was not ready for the Arctic. Since we were freezing we went to Max Brenner after dinner for some hot chocolate. They have these really adorable mugs that are called hug mugs and you have to hug them to drink out of, which I think is pretty great!

Day 2 - January 2, 2008
This was my last day in Tampa, Florida. I spent the majority of the day walking around the mall in Tampa, because it was much cooler outside. It was only about fifty degrees, but all the locals were pretty depressed about it.
This picture is of Dana getting ready to go. She cracked me up because we were there for about four days and she had five bags. However if you can find me anyone with more paraphernalia from their school I would be impressed. She has Badger just about everything you can imagine!
It was an amazing trip and a vacation that I really needed, so I was really glad that everything worked out so great. Go Badgers!

Day One - January 1, 2008
I rang in the New Year in Tampa, Florida. Dana, a roommate of mine from Madison and I went to the game and spent four days down in Tampa for the Outback Bowl. These people were some fellow Badgers that we ran into singing Varsity obnoxiously in a bar. We all went over to the pier to watch fireworks and ring in the New Year.
We woke up about six hours later and went to the Badger Alumni tailgate. You know you're from Wisconsin when you can enjoy beer and brats even at 8:00 in the morning. The game was an amazing one and really close. Unfortunately my Badgers lost with an interception in the end zone with seconds remaining! At least it was a close game unlike most of the other bowl games and it was 80 degrees, on Sunday and Monday which made for great days at the beach and watching the parade!
