2010 - Day 208

I was waiting for the bus at 14th Street and I thought that this ad was really awesome. Not that I ever eat breakfast food from McDonalds, but their hash browns were pretty great 10 years ago when I last had one.

2010 - Day 207

Time for a new season of kickball and here are my new friends from the black team, John and Evan. This picture is super lame, but it is too hot to do any better than this!

July 27, 2010

2010 - Day 206

I got a great pork loin from Whole Foods as well. I never cook pork but I love it. So this tonight I marinated it and mixed it with green peppers and rice. It was delicious.

July 26, 2010

2010 - Day 205

Chelsea got me hooked on these veggie straws as my new favorite snack. We had them in Aspen and I got them at Whole Foods and ate them for a snack.

July 25, 2010

2010 - Day 204

Unfortunately, I had to work on Saturday, so I missed the third annual Mike Holtz golf tournament. It turns out there was a lot of rain and the golf course was closed. Amber and Erin kept our teams drinking spirit alive though and sent me photographic evidence. Looks like this years drinking trophy was another success!

July 24, 2010

2010 - Day 203

Today was Rebecca's birthday party. We braved the heat for a wonderful night on the town. We started with Ethiopian food at Queen of Sheba. Then we sang karaoke in Union Square. Followed up by a taxi ride in the pouring rain and some dancing in Williamsburg. Rebecca made some excellent choices.

2010 - Day 202

I was no longer in Aspen today. I spent the day at work and then came home and watched Cruel Intentions and ate take out with Jay and Amanda. My family used their week lift passes to get to the top of Aspen Mountain once more and while there, Nicki sent me this photo of a quote I saw up there. I thought this quote was oddly placed but interesting.

July 22, 2010

2010 - Day 201

Akeli and Jean decided to get Rebecca a new dress for her birthday, so we went shopping on Thursday. This was one of my favorites, but this is not the one that Akeli picked.

July 21, 2010

2010 - Day 200

My mom made fun of me for taking food pictures in Aspen. However, we did eat some really incredible things, so I couldn't resist completely. Here is a picture from Asie which was an Asian Fusion place. We had some great pork belly or as mom called it pork fat and here is a picture of it.

July 20, 2010

2010 - Day 199

One of the great things going on in Aspen while we were there was a wonderful art show. It had a huge range of things displayed. Nicki and I thought that the animals with the mountains in the background made for a great picture.

July 19, 2010

2010 - Day 198

We all went on a "mostly" downhill mountain bike ride from the Maroon Bells. Here is a gorgeous picture of Nicki in the valley overlooking two 14ers. Absolutely gorgeous.

July 18, 2010

2010 - Day 197

I don't think any of the best pictures that were taken on this vacation were done with my camera. But regardless, this is a picture of me and my sisters on our way up Aspen mountain for a wonderful lunch at the sky view restaurant at the top.

July 17, 2010

2010 - Day 196

Here is the view from my seat on the plane from Denver to Aspen. It was a beautiful view, even though it freaked me out a little that I could see the ground the entire time. Yikes!

July 16, 2010

2010 - Day 195

Akeli and I always think that we can take a picture of ourselves. However, it basically always makes us end up looking like a bunch of idiots. Exhibit A.

We made some sangria and then went out to grab a beer before I left for Colorado to spend the week with my family.

July 15, 2010

2010 - Day 194

I saw a new store opening up on 3rd Avenue, that I was pretty excited about. It is called Sur La Table and it is a new kitchen supply store. It hasn't opened yet, so I don't know what things cost, but I'm pretty excited about it.

July 14, 2010

2010 - Day 193

Here is a picture of our kickball team actually in action. We had a lot of fun, even playing in the 90 degree weather.

July 13, 2010

2010 - Day 192

Amanda's parents took us to The Palm for dinner tonight. We got some steaks and really good sides. Her is Amanda's mom with her snow crab legs. She let me try and they were delicious.

July 12, 2010

2010 - Day 191

Amanda has been playing in a softball league all summer. Unlike my team, hers actually wins! So they were in the finals this week. Unfortunately, they came in third, but it works out because she didn't want to play again this week anyway.

July 11, 2010

2010 - Day 189

I went with Mitchell and Sara to meet up with some of their friends at the Boat Basin to watch the final World Cup game. Once it went into overtime I got a little bored and had to play a game to keep interested. I'm happy for Spain (even if I was cheering for Holland.) Also this picture turned out great, they are so photogenic the newlyweds.

July 10, 2010

2010 - Day 189

Jen and I had a great movie day, where we saw Grown Ups and Despicable Me. I really enjoyed both movies a lot more than I thought that I would. After that, I couldn't decide what to do. So I picked up supplies for spaghetti and a bottle of wine and just kept watching movies.

July 9, 2010

2010 - Day 188

Even though it was only a 4 day week it still seemed really long. So I spent my Friday evening laying in bed and reading. I finished a book and started, The Art of Choosing. Which is an interesting book written by a professor from Columbia about how choices make our lives better. It is pretty interesting and even had a passage from Adrift at the beginning, which is something we read for book club.

July 8, 2010

2010 - Day 187

I was lamenting that I looked a little bit like an idiot still dressed in my kickball cloths. However, we ran into a group of wiffle ball players at Stumble Inn so I wasn't the only one. It clearly didn't stop me from having a great time.

July 7, 2010

2010 - Day 186

I chose kickball over the bookclub discussion tonight. However, I couldn't resist seeing my bookclub group completely. So after two games of kickball in the 90 degree heat and a game or two of flip cup, I headed to the Upper East. Just in time to enjoy some amazing karaoke.

July 6, 2010

2010 - Day 185

As exciting as the day back from a three day weekend was . . . I think the firework view from Akeli's roof was much more interesting. This is a distance view of the Manhattan fireworks. However, we were able to see firework shows in about three other places.

July 5, 2010

2010 - Day 184

Fourth of July continued. There were amazing red, white and blue pies for dessert at the barbecue. I had some of the cherry and it was delicious. So much so that it is more exciting than anything happened today. Where I spent my day off enjoying the a/c in my apartment and watching movies with Karen.

July 4, 2010

2010 - Day 183

Tammy and Eric threw one of their wonderful bbqs to celebrate the 4th of July. I brought Andrew with, since we were 4th buddies. As you can see Eric was very welcoming.

July 3, 2010

2010 - Day 183

Akeli and I checked out the Andy Warhol exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum's First Saturday. This is one of his most famous works which is a portrayal of the Last Summer.

July 2, 2010

2010 - Day 182

Well it has been warming up in New York and these children are certainly enjoying it by the fountain outside the Brooklyn Library.

July 1, 2010

2010 - Day 181

I was in the mood for a fluff novel a little over a month ago, so I filled my library request list with some wonderful chick lit. Somehow it all suddenly became available in the last week. Looks like I better get reading.

June 30, 2010

2010 - Day 180

Our kickball league has found a new bar as our after game hang out. It is on Rivington and Orchard and called The Doghouse Saloon. As you can tell from all the empty cups, we had a good time. In fact, we drank the bar out of draught beer. When I told my mom this, she thought it was outrageous. I told her that there were like at least 200 people there it wasn't just me and a friend. ;)

June 29, 2010

2010 - Day 179

My boss, Sona, retired and had her last day on Friday. On Tuesday, we threw her a surprise retirement party. Here she is with Chester who will be my new boss. It was a nice party and it was fun to see so many people that I have worked with throughout the last few years at one time.

2010 - Day 178

Marc and Angela's amazing weekend in New York had to come to an end sometime, and obviously they are greatly missed in New York. They said that they would be at the Dram Shop in Brooklyn for happy hour. I showed up to find about 30 people there to greet them. Angela said, that Monday must be the new Friday. Seeing as how it was the last day of school, I also ran into a few teachers that I knew, who were quite happy to be done for the summer.
