2010 - Day 299

There was a really amazing Halloween parade today. My favorite costume was the little kid dressed as a Wisconsin player. You really can't beat that.

2010 - Day 298

We did face painting for kickball this week. We decided that since we are Saved by the Bell themed we would paint tiger paws on our cheeks. They turned out well and we had another great game. We are now 3-1 and it is pretty exciting.

2010 - Day 297

Finally a day with no plans!! I came home order Chinese takeout and watched tv. Then my roommate came home and we caught up for awhile. We decided we needed something a little sweet, fortunately I had m&ms that I bought at the airport last weekend. They were "sharing size" good thing I had someone to share with.

October 26, 2010

2010 - Day 296

Here is the building where I've been tutoring for the SATs. The center is called the Educational Alliance or edgies and it has all kinds of sport and educational programs for youth and adults in the area.

October 25, 2010

2010 - Day 295

Jay hosted Monday Dinner this week at his newish apartment. It was so delicious. He prepared pork stock and then made a glaze for the pork loin. We then had brocollini with pancetta and rice. It was finished off with an apple pie that Amanda had made. Excellent dinner.

2010 - Day 294

There is no reason to worry about the corn crop in Iowa this year. Grandpa had saved us a huge piece of corn to see. Here is Amber trying to hold it up. We had a fantastic dinner that Grandma had prepared for us. Then there was just enough time to hold the corn and pet the sheep before we had to hit the road again. It was really hard to pick pictures for the last few days so don't be surprised if you see a few more later this week.

October 23, 2010

2010 - Day 293

Team Holtz rocks at tailgating. Even with the addition of Larry and Jared our adopted Holtzs we dominated at flip cup. Larry and Amber got to the parking lot at 6:30 AM to reserve our spot. The rest of us arrived at 8 AM for a full day of tailgating. The game turned out AMAZING as long as you ask a Badger, we won by 1. It was a fantastic day with my fantastic cousins.

October 22, 2010

2010 - Day 292

On the road again! Amber and I decided this summer that we were going to have a rivals weekend for the Wisconsin/Iowa football game. The long anticipated weekend finally arrived. Nicki picked me up in Milwaukee and we headed to Iowa City for the weekend.

October 21, 2010

2010 - Day 291

So my fall kickball team, Saved by the Balls is suddenly 2-1. It is nice to win, but regardless we all have a really great time and that is what really matters. We even have team snack and this week Karen made some killer peanut butter brownies. It is going to be touch to beat that next week.

October 20, 2010

2010 - Day 290

Oops this picture is not good. It is a picture of the fruit punch that Akeli bought at the movie theater. We went to see the Social Network. I'm not sure that I agree that it is the best movie ever. However, I did really enjoy it, because it is certainly a very compelling story. No one is ever going to make a movie about my life, but if they do I hope they remember me as being a little kinder than Zuckerburg is portrayed, yikes!

October 19, 2010

2010 - Day 289

Back to New York and back to reality at least until I head to Iowa City on Friday. I signed up to do a program through New York Cares where we provide free SAT tutoring using the Kaplan method. This was our first week with students, and I'm extremely excited to work with the three kids that I have for the year. It should be a lot of fun, and a little more work than I anticipated.

October 18, 2010

2010 - Day 288

Nicki, Dana and I planned to get breakfast at Mickey's Dinner by the stadium. However, it is closed on Mondays apparently. Such a bummer. Instead we ended up at a dinner on the East Side of town that Nicki had been to with her roommates in the past. It was delicious.

October 17, 2010

2010 - Day 287

I LOVE Wisconsin. Especially when it means eating a brat and watching football with Dana on a Sunday afternoon. After we finished watching the Pack lose again in overtime we headed to the Union. It was a little too cold for beer outdoors though so we moved it into the Rathskeller and watched more football.

October 16, 2010

2010 - Day 286

In one word - Amazing. Quite frankly after all the possibilities of how Dad and I could and did lose our tickets, the fact that we walked into the stadium with them is a miracle. Then the Badgers scored a touchdown on the opening kickoff and the rest is history. I love that you can't even see the field in this picture. Go Badgers!

October 15, 2010

2010 - Day 285

Friday I got home from work and chilled with my roommate before we went to bed about 9:15 PM. All this because I was getting up at 4 AM to head to Wisconsin for an amazing weekend. So the cheese curds aren't from Friday, technically, but they were delicious. We got them at the Old Fashion which is an amazing Madison eatery.

October 14, 2010

2010 - Day 284

Our kickball game was rained out, so I came home first and then meet some of my team. I wasn't going to get caught in the rain a second time so I borrowed Amanda's rain boots that matched perfectly with my skirt.

October 13, 2010

2010 - Day 283

I took this picture because it seemed like there was an accident, but then the guy in the truck was smoking. It turned out it was only an electrical truck, but in the rain it seemed much more important.

October 12, 2010

2010 - Day 282

We rescheduled Monday night dinner for Monday Night Football. So instead we had dinner tonight. I was craving stove top. So I made the chili beef recipe on the back of the cornbread stove top box. It was really good and satisfied my stove top craving.

October 11, 2010

2010 - Day 281

This is one of Katie's favorite restaurants in Brooklyn. They have a great bean a cheese sandwich that Katie loved. I had some coconut shrimp and chicken soup that was delicious. It is amazing how great it looked outside right here, because there was a hail storm about an hour later.

October 10, 2010

2010 - Day 280

I swear this is the last wedding picture for awhile , but I thought these pew flowers were really neat so I thought I would take a picture.

October 9, 2010

2010 - Day 779

Here is Jen, me and Amanda at Jen's birthday dinner. We had really good food and then they were out of champagne for the champagne toast, so we had a shot of tequila instead. The best part was when we ran into one of the groomsman from the wedding I had worked at the last bar.

October 8, 2010

2010 - Day 778

This is some of our food at La Palapa which actually happened on Saturday not Friday, but I'm slow on updating so here you go, yummy.

October 7, 2010

2010 - Day 277

Team Saved by the Balls had our first victory Thursday. GO BAYSIDE. It was a fun game, although our team fights over who is going to sit out every round. Don't let it fool you, we are great.

October 6, 2010

2010 - Day 276

For this month's book club we read Death of an Adversary. It was an interesting book, but none of us really enjoyed it. Unfortunately there just wasn't very much to discuss in the book as well. We still had a nice time though. Here is Katie and Jason as we tried to answer trivia questions at Banshee after book club.

October 5, 2010

2010 - Day 275

We had the Parish Open House at work this week. Here is a picture of Diane and I greeting people as they came in. We had a nice turn out which was great.

October 4, 2010

2010 - Day 274

Amanda made a great frittata for dinner. I forgot to take a picture of it though, so here are the croutons that she got to go with it. I love Monday dinner. Especially when we get to watch Mad Men during it.

October 3, 2010

2010 - Day 273

Today was the last day of the baseball season for those teams not going to the playoffs. The Mets are one of those teams, so a friend of mine got some free tickets and invited me to come. Here we are at the train station, during the bottom of the 12th, when we decided we couldn't take it anymore. I love Citi Field though, it is a really excellent stadium. We even entered through the VIP entrance which was pretty fun.

October 2, 2010

2010 - Day 272

My friends Mike and Christina invited me to come with them on a pub crawl this evening. It was a lot of fun and a great way to end a really long Saturday at work. The only bad news is that Wisconsin did not beat Michigan State, bummer.

October 1, 2010

2010 - Day 271

This is the best way to summarize this weekend. Basically a total blur of weddings. I had one this afternoon at 3 and it was sandwiched with one rehearsal before it and three after it. Pretty crazy, but fun.

September 30, 2010

2010 - Day 270

Karen and I picked up some accessories to go with our new kickball team's uniforms. Here Raj and I are displaying our amazing socks. I think we are going to have a great team this season. Looking forward to it.

September 29, 2010

2010 - Day 269

I am trying to spend a little less money and prepare more food at home. So I stocked the "pantry" this week. Which looks rather ridiculous, so I thought I would take a picture.

September 28, 2010

2010 - Day 268

October is the busiest time of year for weddings at work. So I have been working on the weekends. This is a picture of the flower arrangement from the wedding Saturday. It was a wedding in the smaller chapel and it was such a beautiful arrangement, I thought I might as well share it.
