2010 - Day 151

Scott and Dana were not huge fans of having their pictures taken, but Dana said that I would be able to take their picture by the bull. So here we are next to the bull while walking around downtown.

2010 - Day 150

Scott had a list of restaurants that he wanted to try in New York. I had been to a lot of the places and agreed that it was a good list. The brunch option that he had was Clinton Street Baking Company. I had been there once before, but don't go very often because the wait is always FOREVER. We did in fact have a two hour wait, but we used the time to walk around Chinatown and Little Italy. I got the huevos rancheros and Scott got the blueberry pancakes and we switched them halfway through. That certainly made it worth the wait.

2010 - Day 149

Scott and Dana came up to New York to visit for the weekend. We went to West Side Story tonight. It was an excellent show and I really enjoyed it. A little more sexual and more Spanish than the movie and of course all of the music was incredible. I still can't buy the fact that people could become SO in love in one night, but I guess that is why it is a story! After the show we headed for some cheesecake and a beer.

May 28, 2010

2010 - Day 148

Amanda has been working in Reception at work off and on for the last several years and she is moving back to California. We decide to have a beer and movie night before she left. So we went for some nachos and beer at Jake Russel and then we watched Slum Dog Millionaire.

2010 - Day 147

In my tiny apartment a problem that happens constantly is broken dishes. It just can't be helped when everything is constantly balanced precariously on some surface in our apartment. Regardless, Fishs Eddy in Union Square is my saving grace. You can buy glassware for 99 cents. So we once again have wine glasses that match each other. I am really excited to buy excessive dishes from here sometime in the future. For example a really awesome milk jug or bowls specifically for french onion soup. I can't wait.

May 26, 2010

2010 - Day 146

Here is the view from Frying Pan, a great bar that is on a boat right above Chelsea's Pier. As you can see from this "artistic" photo, the boat does actually move and it was dusk. I had been to Frying Pan once before a little less than two years ago for a birthday party. Since then it seems to have gotten a bit trendier and was sorta packed. It still has views you can't beat and is a nice place to grab a drink and some garlic fries.

2010 - Day 145
It is that time of year where everything has to be completed before you can get into the summer projects you've been meaning to do. So I have been desperately trying to get to the bottom of my desk for about a week. Clearly, not a fun task. So it was incredible when Clare walked in with a box of See's chocolate for a break today. Mmm.

May 24, 2010

2010 - Day 144
My mom had told me about some sweet corn they had last week and I had a craving for some of my own. So I made some chicken skewers and sweet potato fries to go with it. I got a little too ambitious with the sweet potato fries and had to put half of them in the fridge to make later this week. Also I was making Jay and Amanda nervous cutting the potatoes. Jay said that I better not cut my finger off, because he knew from experience that was no good. Amanda added that she was too tired to go to the emergency room. I stopped already with the potatoes.

2010 - Day 143

The Shirtless Men of 'Lost'

I could have taken a picture of the beautiful day, shopping for shoes and watching Lost. However, I thought this video about how Lost is an ode to the male torso, was much more appealing. I'm sure you'll agree.

May 22, 2010

2010 - Day 142

Apparently Akeli is the star of this weekend's posts. After I got to choose UES only on Friday, I told Akeli she could pick something for Saturday. So I meet up with her and Rebecca at a hookah bar and then we had some amazing tapas. After that I was exhausted and headed home. The weekend shouldn't be exhausting, but I'm an over planner, so it happens sometimes.

May 21, 2010

2010 - Day 141
I had plans to get a drink with a coworker and then meet up with Akeli after work. As the night was winding down I realized that nothing particularly unique had happened today, so might as well take a picture of what was currently happening. So here is Akeli sharing a whiskey sour with me at Bar Coastal. It is one of those bars that isn't quite a dive bar, but doesn't really fit into the next category. Which may be the way my life could be described as well, so needless to say, I like the place.

May 20, 2010

2010 - Day 140

One of my responsibilities at work is being in charge of all of the events which occur in Wallace Hall. I thought that the decorations and theme turned out very well for the Loyola School Auction. Their theme was Casa Blanca and it turned out beautiful.

May 19, 2010

2010 - Day 139

Nothing picture worthy happened today, but this was a great picture from a few weeks ago. This was in a subway station in Bushwick and it was for "SlimShots" liquid portion control which is really funny in my opinion. Way to know your hipster audience, Bushwick subway station.

May 18, 2010

2010 - Day 138

My friend, Lisa, from book club invited me over for dinner. She invited Colin as well and we had a great night. At the end Katie came over, because she was in the city and I had a movie that I had to return to her. Here is Katie with Lisa's dog Potato.

May 17, 2010

2010 - Day 137

Amanda and Jay found a type of onion that is only available for several weeks a year. I will have to get the name . . . Anyway she made a sauce less pizza to use the onions with. It was incredible. That combined with some amazing bruschetta and it was a great meal.

May 16, 2010

2010 - Day 136

My family joined me for Sarah and Patrick's Wedding as well. I was really glad that Nicki could come down from Madison and it was amazing to see Mom and Dad as well as always. I can't believe that it is the middle of May already, yikes!

May 15, 2010

2010 - Day 135

My friends Sarah and Pat got married today! Sarah is a good friend of mine from High School and I have had the privilege of knowing Pat for about seven year. They had an incredibly beautiful wedding and it was wonderful to share it with them. Here is a picture of me and the happy couple at the reception.

May 14, 2010

2010 - Day 134

Midwest has merged with Frontier, so this trip back to Milwaukee I ended up on one of the new Frontier planes. They have televisions now and they still serve the chocolate chip cookies.

It was a crazy day at work as well. We had Lena Horne's funeral, which I didn't take any pictures of, but there were about 60 photographers outside who did. So clearly you can find a picture of that as well.

May 13, 2010

2010 - Day 133

So I obviously will not live with Amanda forever, and I think that it is nights like tonight that I will miss most when that day comes. I had said something about brownies yesterday, and so she asked me if we had a box of brownies. Turns out we only had devil's food cake. So instead I made a cake and then made some homemade cream cheese frosting to put on top of it. We even licked the bowl clean, we are ridiculous. Also bless her heart she sat through my whole Netflix movie, which was a chick flick originally aired on the Hallmark channel. At some point I am going to have to have some standards for movies as well!

May 12, 2010

2010 - Day 132

In this week of chaos, we ended up having Monday dinner on Wednesday. I made an old standby, turkey chili. It was so cold today in New York, that I thought chili was more than appropriate. I spiced it up with some left over peppers from salsa Monday Night dinner and it turned out fantastic. Even better, it made a great lunch for Amanda and I as well.

May 11, 2010

2010 - Day 131

My mom figured out how to text pictures and sent me this one of the flowers that I sent her for Mother's Day. I am not great at picking out someone's favorite flowers, so I went with her favorite color instead!

May 10, 2010

2010 - Day 130

I cannot take credit for this photo it is by Gavin Thomas and is taken from http://nymag.com/listings/bar/epistrophy/.

In my attempt to try anything once, I decided to go speed dating with Jen tonight. Beforehand we went here to Epistrophy for dinner. We actually sat in the exact corner of the bar pictured here. We ended up being in quite a rush, which explains why I didn't get my own photo. However, it was a wonderful place. We enjoyed a great cheese and meat board and then I had a fantastic salad, before we moved on.

May 9, 2010

2010 - Day 129

Karen and I went to see Iron Man 2 this afternoon. It was not quite as amazing as the 1st one, but it was still a good movie. I took this picture as a sample for my mom as how to text a photo from her new iPhone.

May 8, 2010

2010 - Day 128

I enjoy few things as much as I enjoy brunch. Today I took a recommendation from my friend, Rob, from months ago. Katie joined me for Brunch at Char 4 on Smith Street in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. The food was incredible. I had the brunch special which included: maple glazed ham, cornbread, a poached egg, homemade apple sauce and some garlic potatoes which must have been soaked in garlic overnight or something. I most certainly will have to go here again.

May 7, 2010

2010 - Day 127

Akeli talked me into going to Bushwick with her tonight. There is nothing about these loft apartments that really embodies my "scene." However, I had an awesome time. It was great to meet a bunch of new people and interesting to see how people live in this incredibly creative space. This picture is in the bathroom, where they had written thoughts and created drawings over NYC subway maps.

May 6, 2010

2010 - Day 126

Nothing about today went quite right. Beginning with leaving my cell phone at home. Oh well, I figured people survived for thousands of years with out them. I was even capable of meeting Akeli for another Jamba Juice at the same place one that we went to on Tuesday. I choose the place where we sat, because it is the building I used to work at on Park Avenue. You may remember this fountain from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I absolutely love this building, and the fact that it is staying light out until almost 8 PM. Summer is almost here!!

May 5, 2010

2010 - Day 125

I had a couple of choices for today's picture. Seeing as how it is Cinco de Mayo or "Frat Boy Christmas." It was also book club. However, the place where we usually meet wouldn't let us make a reservation because they were booked for the night. Clearly Jen and I were curious what the big event, more important than us was. Well it turned out to be a radiology conference/mixer type thing. Here is Jen with the sign for the event.

May 4, 2010

2010 - Day 124

Akeli is now working in midtown, which means that seeing her during the week is really easy. So today we meet after work for a Jamba Juice and some people watching. It was wonderful.

May 3, 2010

2010 - Day 123

Amanda made savory crepes for Monday Night Dinner. Good call, they were incredible. I took a picture of them, but Amanda said they weren't photogenic enough. So here you go instead, proof that it took nearly every dish we own to make them.

May 2, 2010

2010 - Day 122

This is the picture that I took with Yvonne's iPhone. I was teaching her how to take a picture with the Facebook ap. Jerry thought we were insane, but this picture of Time Square turned out pretty good. IPhone photography is a tricky skill! Also Apple is pretty tricky, how has iPhone become a dictionary recognized word and Facebook hasn't?

May 1, 2010

2010 - Day 121

Today Jerry, Yvonne and I went to Yankee Stadium on an absolutely perfect Saturday. Obviously, we didn't have front row seats. I still thought that it was a good view though. Also not sitting directly in the sun makes the experience more enjoyable for me at least. It was also really great that Yvonne started conversations with people on the subway getting there. She even handed her camera to someone to take a picture. I should probably get a copy of that picture too!

April 30, 2010

2010 - Day 120

We went to Little Italy or as Amanda says, "You mean, Chinatown, because the real Little Italy is in the Bronx." Well I got talked into a restaurant by one of the Italian host people on the street. I told him he didn't have room for three outside, but he made it happen. It turned out to be a wonderful choice. Their olive oil was fantastic. Then Jerry and I both got the seafood stew. Which ended up being almost a whole lobster tail, three shrimp and three scallops. It was pretty excessive and not stew, but incredible!

2010 - Day 119
Well here is a limitation of my camera. My aunt and uncle are here visiting and I met them on the Upper West Side at my favorite Thai place after work. Well after dinner we took a stroll in Central Park. There was this fantastic bridge and the view from it was awesome. So here are Jerry and Yvonne (left) and the fantastic view (right.)
