I really miss blogging. Enough so that I am thinking that I will bring it back for 201o. However, this is a picture that I thought could not be missed. Since we had gone to Iowa City for Ben's 21st birthday, we decided to go to Nicki's for hers as well. I-O-W-A on State Street in Madison. It is pretty sacrilegious if you ask me, but it was pretty funny as well.

So I haven't posted anything here for quite some time, but occasionally I see something that really makes me miss not posting a picture a day this year. Here is one of them. I don't know if you can appreciate this picture if you've never tried to find a parking space in New York City. But if you have you know that it is a fate you won't wish on your worst enemy. So this person really has it figured out. Even though the person in front of them clearly thought they were just barely leaving enough space between themselves and the fire hydrant. The smart car driver thought otherwise and they parked diagonally right next to it, take that traffic officers!

My good friend, Wendy, from High School got married this weekend. Fortunately, I was able to go for the wedding, and I have to say, she was extremely radiant in her wedding dress. I also have never seen her smile so much. I'm very happy for Wendy and Marty.

I got a chance to visit with my Grandma Holtz on my great Iowa adventure as well. It had been awhile since I had a chance to make it out to see her, so it was wonderful to get to see her a few days in a row. Here we are sitting in the best chairs according to Grandma.

Growing up in Indianapolis, I always associated Memorial Day with Race Day. However, now that I have spent the last two Memorial Days with my grandparents in Iowa, I have found a lot more meaning in the day. My grandpa is the leader of his town's American Legion and he led the ceremony at Maynard's cemetery. Since I stayed a little longer, I got the privilege of helping the legioners take down all of the flags around the cemetery as well. My grandpa was about to introduce me to one of the older men helping us out, but he responded, "Well she looks like a Holtz, if you've seen one you've seen them all." I thought that was hilarious.

My little sister graduated from college! I am getting pretty old apparently. Chelsea just finished her BA in Biology from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Here we are with her looking as photogenic as always, even in one of those goofy graduation caps. Chels has a super busy summer, she just got back from 4 weeks in Tanzania and will be moving to Kansas City for Medical School in the August.

My parents came to New York City for my Mom's 50th Birthday. I planned a pretty exciting weekend for the three of us. They flew in on Friday and we got lunch and then I cooked them dinner in my apartment. Friday night, we went to see the Broadway Musical, Guys and Dolls, it was almost as good as the rendition they starred in at West Central High School, or so I'm told. Then Saturday, we had a great day walking around Central Park and the rest of the city. We went to the Steakhouse, Peter Lugers for dinner with my roommate. Finally, Sunday, I made my first trip to Yankee Stadium. Unfortunately, the game was rained out, but it was still a great day and a wonderful weekend.

This may have been one of the best days of 2009. Nicki came up with an idea that we should all go to Iowa City for Ben's 21st birthday! Well, I thought about it and decided why not? Then I called Amber & Larry and Chelsea and they were all in, so we made it happen! This 21st birthday party totally topped mine. I guess "All you need is Ben!"

March 18 - March 22, 2009

Okay well 2009 is really flying by and I haven't been updating my blog at all. Once I wasn't taking a picture every day, I started to forget about it. However, I've had a few requests to keep it going, and there are still plenty of things to take pictures of, so I'll try to do better. I turned 25 this year, and took about a week and a half to celebrate in order to alleviate the stress of my quarter life crisis.

My sister, Nicki and her boyfriend, Jeremy, came to New York to help celebrate my birthday and enjoy their Spring Break. We walked about 20 miles around the city, had an epic shoe shopping day and formed a kick ass Rock Band band, John n da Albino Sistas. I know you all want to join, and believe me my new roommate and I will probably be up to play just about any time. I'm an okay singer and with a lot more practice I might even master a fake instrument. That will be the day. This picture is of Nick and Jeremy at Rockefeller Center. It was a gorgeous night and we walked from my apartment to Time Square with a few pit stops, here's one of them.

Year Two - Week Four

2009 - Week Four

Apparently, January is birthday month, because there are birthday parties galore to attend over the course of the last few weekends. On Saturday, I went to Ellen's Stardust Diner for my friend, Natalie's birthday dinner. It is a ridiculous place where the waiters sing Broadway songs. Well our waiter did a solo for Natalie which contained feeding her cake and dancing with her. It was pretty amazing!

2009 - Week Three

So all week went by and this is the best I can do, because it is so priceless. I love that this store is taking something depressing and devastating like the recession and making it a joke. I mean come on, Duane Reade and Chase Bank not coming soon that is funny. I even went in and got two glasses for $.99 each and a really cool bowl, so I guess their marketing worked. The other amazing thing that happened this week is that Barack Obama became our president. Something I read said America is cool again and I thought that was funny. I'm excited for 2009, it isn't going to be all fun and games, but so far it is off to a great start.

Year Two - Week Two

2009 - Week Two

Man, this is a lot easier to do once a week. There is plenty going on in a week to find something interesting. I still find myself taking pictures of random things constantly as well. This is from Saturday. A few of my friends have started a tradition where every January they go to Madison Square Garden for the rodeo. Amanda and Jay had an extra ticket, so they invited me to go along. It was a lot of fun. The rules are that you have to stay on the bull for 8 seconds before it counts, and if you made it, then you are given a score based on difficulty and your skills. I feel like my current job/life situation is a little like bull riding, the hardest part is just sticking with anything for 8 seconds. I'm trying for style points though!

Year Two - Week One

2009 - Week One

To those of you who have said you miss my blog, thanks so much, but it isn't done yet, just a little slowed down. For week one of the new year, I would like to share my changes at work. For the first time in my life, I've been assigned my own office. It isn't much, but I am not currently sharing with anyone. Of course I'm sure this won't last forever, but for the moment, here you go. I'm also really trying to get over my habit of making piles, I wonder where I got that one. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm getting better! Hello IKEA baskets, which also made an appearance in my classrooms at East New York.

Day 366 - December 31, 2008

I can't believe that 2008 is over, but because of this awesome New Year's Resolution, I have a pretty good idea about what happened to it! So on the last night of the year I spent the evening hanging out with two of my favorite New Yorkers, Jen and Rohin. We went to Niina and Garrett's apartment to celebrate the last day of the year as well as Garrett's birthday. There were a whole series of funnier photos, but I think Rohin and Jen would kill me if I put them up here, so instead here is one where we are not eating!
